Himaja Educational and Rural Deveopment Association (HERDA), Puttur has been formed
with aim of Providing Quality and Modern Education to the children of puttur and
surrounding Mandals as Puttur is a rural area with low literacy rate and majority
people depending on agricultural income, The founders Mr. M. Surendra Raju childhood
dream of establishing a school supported by his wife Mrs. M. Nishidha has intitiated
to the establishment of Himaja English Medium School (Nursery, LKG, UKG and I -
V ) on 6th June 1996 at SBI colony, K.N. Road , Puttur. The school was upgraded
class by every year and obtained high school status in the academic year 1999 -
2000. The first SSC batch passed out in March 2002. The management has started Himaja
Junior college in June 2002 with the permission of Board of Intermediate education,
Nampally Hyderabad, as many SSC pass outs were leaving to Tirupathi, Nellore and
Vijayawada for Intermediate Education.

The society HERDA has gone one more step taking over. A Degree College affiliated
to S.V.University, Tirupathi as the demand for computer and Commerce graduates in
industries and Gover- nement service. The Himaja Dergree College is started in a
New Premises at Himaja Nagar Kalyanapuram, Puttur.

THE SCHOOL

The management of Himaja Educational and .Rural Development Association (HEDRA)
was formed with the view to provide Quality Education- to. the people of puttur
and surrounding mandals. HERDA established Himaja English Medium School on the 6th
June, 1996 with classes Nursery to V std and Upgrading every year class by classes
into .High School in the year 2000.
Keeping in mind the number of students entering into Technical fields like Medicine
and Engineering was less comered to_ other parts of ._the district, We started HIMAJA
JUNIOR COLLEGE in June 2002 -providing Quality Education and good faciltes with
reasonpable fees.

As the students of puttur were finding diffcult to appear for competitive entrance
examin- ations such as A.P.R.J.C., polytechnic., DSC., B.ED., Navodaya and EAMCET,
Himaja Coac- hing center was established in April 2003 to provide excellent coaching.

CURRICULUM
|
|
Himaja Curriculum is designed in such a way to mould today's children into tomorrow's
professionals. A great deal of emphasis is placed on the teaching of Mathematics,
science English, Environmental studies, PET., Craft, Drawing, karake, Music and
Dance are also considered important aspects of our broad balanced curriculum. Individual
Supp- orted is provided for children who have learning difficulties in certain areas
of the curriculum.
The school has a well stocked library which supports the curriculum needs of our
children. We also attach great importance on a child's social development, emphasizing
the need to respe- ct moral values and acceptable standards of behavior. It is believed
that the curriculum should be dynamic and one which should be continually developing
-and- evolving to suit the needs of a fast changing society.
